So you’re a marketer, or small business, or indie producer… and you want people to want people to watch your videos. Making a video go viral is probably out of your control, but making it good isn’t. So I want to share 5 best practices for how to build a strong and loyal audience over time, courtesy of Jay Miletsky, the CEO of online network My Pod Studios and author of several brand new books.
1. Keep It Short
More than half of viewers drop off after the second minute, so keep it short and punchy.
2. Episodes Should Stand Alone
While some episodic web shows work well, it’s generally best to make videos that don’t require viewers to have watched all the others.
3. Educate
Make sure your videos are educational, interesting, and/or informative
4. Good Lighting Audio
Nice cameras are fine, but never underestimate the halo effect of the lighting–and good audio helps.
5. Watch Your Language
Make it easy for networks and sites to promote your video, and that means keep it clean.
